FIFTH ANNUAL NEW YORK YANKEES STEM SCHOLARS PROGRAM CONCLUDING TONIGHT WITH ON-FIELD RECOGNITION CEREMONY PRIOR TO YANKEES-DODGERS GAME




The New York Yankees today announced the successful return of the weeklong New York Yankees STEM Scholars Program, which is administered in partnership with STEM Educational Institute, Inc. Introduced in 2022 and concluding its fifth edition today, the initiative provides underrepresented New York City high school students the technological skills needed to enter today’s workforce and the tools to work toward building generational wealth.

SEI will host their annual Technology Summit in June 2027, Mind the Gap: Intelligence in Transition, which is a groundbreaking, cross-sector conference bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, educators, technologists, business leaders, and policymakers to address the widening gap between K–12 education and the rapidly evolving demands of an AI-powered workforce.

New York, NY — The STEM Educational Institute, Inc. (SEI) announces its selection as a new strategic community partner of Andreessen Horowitz’s Cultural Leadership Fund (CLF), marking a significant milestone in helping SEI advance representation in technology and wealth generation.


This partnership aligns SEI's mission of ending generational poverty through STEM education with CLF's commitment to advancing African American talent across the technology industry. CLF’s support will enhance SEI's ability to provide free STEM programming, financial literacy education, and mental health support to underrepresented high school students.

This collaboration represents a significant step in addressing the technological skills gap while promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. Both organizations are committed to creating lasting change through education, mentorship, and strategic community building.

Yankees & STEM Institute Honor Students At Yankee Stadium

Students from the STEM Educational Institute were recognized on the field at Yankee Stadium before the Yankees vs. Blue Jays game on Friday, Aug. 2, as part of the New York Yankees STEM initiative. The initiative provides training by the STEM Educational Institute to underrepresented high school students across the city to help improve their technological and financial literacy skills.


During the Aug. 2 game, the Institute also hosted a fundraising event, featuring autographed items, unique memorabilia, and 2025 Yankee season tickets. As part of the STEM initiative, students participate in a one-year program that begins each summer.

Black History and the Future of Data Science Roundtable

On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, DataCamp’s Social Impact Manager Nathaniel Taylor-Leach hosted a live roundtable discussion in honor of Black History Month. We invited three Black leaders in tech and philanthropy to join the conversation: Nikisha Alcindor, President and Founder of STEM Educational Institute Sean Burrowes, CEO and Co-founder of Ingressive For Good Roger Roman, CEO and CO-founder of AfriBlocks The goal of the livestream, “Black History and the Future of Data Science,” was to highlight the contributions the Black community has made to computer and data science over the past century, while also identifying today’s challenges facing young people of color that make these highly lucrative and influential careers less accessible than they should be. One important theme our guests touched upon was the dire need for more Black and Brown data scientists in the AI and ML industries so that the algorithms of tomorrow do not unfairly perpetuate today’s unconscious biases and negative stereotypes. Questions from our viewing audience also prompted our panel of experts to recommend ways that nonprofits, companies, and governments can promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within their ranks by investing in learning development, internal promotions, paid interns, and more.
